What to Expect

Hands-On STEM Activities

Children will explore age-appropriate activities in robotics, LEGO engineering, mechanical design, coding, and creative problem-solving.

Activities may include:

  • LEGO building and engineering challenges
  • Gears, motion, and simple mechanisms
  • Robot driving and sensor activities
  • Coding demonstrations
  • Bridge, tower, or vehicle design challenges
  • Competition robot demonstrations

Activities vary by event and are adapted to each child’s age and experience level.

Programs for Different Age Groups

Ages 4–6: Early Engineering Exploration

Young learners explore building, movement, storytelling, teamwork, and beginner engineering concepts through guided play.

Ages 6–9: Robotics and Mechanical Engineering Foundations

Students experience structured building challenges, introductory coding, mechanisms, sensors, and engineering problem-solving.

Ages 9–14: Advanced Robotics and Competition Pathways

Older students explore robotics design, coding, mechanical engineering, innovation projects, and opportunities to join competition teams.

Parent Information Session

While students participate in their activities, parents will learn about:

  • Our year-round robotics and engineering curriculum
  • Age and skill-level placement
  • Weekly enrichment classes
  • Robotics competition teams
  • Innovation camps and after-school programs
  • Quarter-based enrollment and scheduling
  • Long-term student development in engineering, coding, presentation, and teamwork

Student Showcase

At the end of the event, students will have an opportunity to present what they created, explain their design choices, and share how they solved a problem.

Is the Open House a Trial Class?

The Open House is an introduction to ForgeMind Academy rather than a full trial class. It allows families to visit the learning environment, meet our team, experience several short activities, and understand our programs.

Families interested in enrollment may schedule a separate student evaluation or trial class after the event.

Do Students Need Prior Experience?

No prior experience in robotics, coding, or LEGO engineering is required. Beginners are welcome, and experienced students will be offered more advanced challenges whenever possible.

Registration

Open House attendance is free, but advance registration is required. Each child should attend with at least one parent or guardian.
